Today I learned that I have no specific preference to African American people or white people. Black or white is just a skin color it does not matter. What matters is what is on the inside. Your skin color does not define who you are as a person. I was taught to love anyone and everyone. The bias test showed me what and who I prefer.
9-11: face to face
Everyone felt like the world was going to just fall apart after 9-11. Muslim's of America were worried about their life. Their children were being bullied in school by other students who were not Muslim. The non Muslims were calling the Muslim students Bin Laden and making their lives miserable. A lot of people were screaming and calling loved ones and telling them to turn the news on to see what was going on with the World Trade Centers. One Lady woke up to her roommate crying and screaming because she had a loved one who was visiting the World Trade Center. She did not know how to help her roommate, she was so upset and broken. This gentleman was getting ready for a meeting and he was really close to the pentagon, and he said he was so shocked. This lady's husband called her and told her to turn the TV on because there was a bunch of important stuff going on. She ignored him because it was early in the morning. She said about 10 minutes later her father called and said that there was some serious issues going on, on the east coast, and he told her to be careful while she is at school. I wish I was older to understand what was happening exactly. This day no matter what always hits my heart. It is a sad day and I feel for all of those who died or ones who lost loved ones in 9-11
My Reaction to 9-11: I was 3 when this happened. I don't remember a lot, but I do remember my mom crying a lot and my dad rushing through the door to turn the TV on. I was in the bath and my mom came and got me out and rapped me up in my little frog towel. She was crying and she just was hugging me and telling me that she loved me. I asked her why there were fireworks on the screen though, I didn't realize it was an explosion. To this day I still get emotional about 9-11.
Pearl Harbor: face to face
The whole atmosphere changed for this one lady who was from Japan. After pearl Harbor was attacked, her friends were not talking to her and blaming her. She did not know what they were talking about because she did not hear about it until the next day. Her friends were blaming her and being very rude to her, yet she did not even know what those other students were talking about. This gentleman was coming home from church and him and his family stopped for ice cream when someone told them about Pearl Harbor. He said that it was stupid of the Japanese to do. He did not automatically think that it meant war. But by the end of the day he knew it meant war. I remember talking to my dad and not understanding what was going on, so a years later when I was old enough he showed me the movie "Pearl Harbor" with Tom Cruise and he explained to me what happened in the years before.
My Reaction to Pearl Harbor:
I really never understood why Japan did that? Don't they know we were much more powerful? I felt like it was really stupid of them to do that. Personally, but everyone has their own opinion.
I am also mutual on racial preference, but I agree it is sad what Muslim Americans had to endure.
